ICVES 2019 have the great honour of receive three of the most recognized expertise in the field of Intelligent Transportation Systems who will share with us one the main events of the conference:
– Prof. Wei Bin Zhang. University of California Berkeley. Elected President of IEEE-ITSS.
– Prof. Miguel Angel Sotelo. Universidad de Alcalá de Henares. President of IEEE-ITSS.
– Prof. Christoph Stiller. Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. And Founder of IEEE-ITSS.
On this panel the most important topics in the Intelligent Transportation Systems field will be discussed, sharing the knowledge and experience of its reputed participants, and discussing the future challenges that Intelligent Transportation Systems will face during the upcoming years.
The panel will be presented by Associate Prof. Fernando Garcia, from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and will bring the conference to an inspirational finish before our closing ceremony.

Brief Bio
Wei Bin Zhang holds appointments as a Research Scientist at University of California at Berkeley and at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. He also serves as the president of Transformational Transportation Technologies.
Wei-Bin joined UC Berkeley Institute of Transportation Studies in 1987 and became the first researcher and a program manager at the California PATH Program. He participated in the early founding of PATH and has led research and innovations on a broad spectrum of ITS, with considerable emphasis on advanced vehicle control and safety technologies. In the 1990s, he served as the Technical Director of the National Automated Highway Systems Consortium (NAHSC) a $210M national program led by the U.S. Department of Transportation and General Motors. He was responsible for overseeing NAHSC’s technical activities and managed the development of the automated platooning system for a U.S. Congress-mandated national technical feasibility demonstration of Automated Highway Systems in 1997. Since 2000, he directed a number of federal and state sponsored research programs on advanced vehicle safety systems and automation technologies for highway and transit applications. He also led California research efforts on Connected Vehicle based multimodal Intelligent Traffic Signal System (MMITSS), Eco-driving, Integrated Dynamic Transit Operation, and applications of real-time information for encouraging smart travel choice. Wei-Bin has published over two hundred papers and reports.
Wei-Bin is a Fellow of Institute of Electric and Electronic Engineers (IEEE). He is currently the President-elect of IEEE ITS Society (ITSS). He also served on various Technical and program committees for TRB, ITS America and APTA. Wei-Bin is a member of ITS American International Council and was the Chair for ITS America’s China Committee. In this capacity, he has assisted USDOT and US based ITS industries on establishing collaborations with China and other countries.

Brief Bio
Miguel Ángel Sotelo received the degree in Electrical Engineering in 1996 from the Technical University of Madrid, the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering in 2001 from the University of Alcalá (Alcalá de Henares, Madrid), Spain, and the Master in Business Administration (MBA) from the European Business School in 2008. From 1993 to 1994, he held an Excellence Research Grant at the University of Alcalá, where he is currently a Full Professor at the Department of Computer Engineering and Vice-president for International Relations. In 1997, he was a Research Visitor at the RSISE of the Australian National University in Canberra. His research interests include Self-driving cars, Cooperative Systems, and Traffic Technologies. He is author of more than 200 publications in journals, conferences, and book chapters. He has been recipient of the Best Research Award in the domain of Automotive and Vehicle Applications in Spain in 2002 and 2009, and the 3M Foundation Awards in the category of eSafety in 2004 and 2009.
Miguel Ángel Sotelo has served as Project Evaluator, Rapporteur, and Reviewer for the European Commission in the field of ICT for Intelligent Vehicles and Cooperative Systems in FP6 and FP7. He was Director General of Guadalab Science & Technology Park (2011-2012) and co-founder and CEO of Vision Safety Technologies (2009-2015), a spin-off company established in 2009 to commercialize computer vision systems for road infrastructure inspection. He is member of the IEEE ITSS Board of Governors and Executive Committee.
Miguel Ángel Sotelo served as Editor-in-Chief of the Intelligent Transportation Systems Society Newsletter (2013), Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems Magazine (2014-2016), Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems (2008-2014), member of the Steering Committee of the IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Vehicles (since 2015), and a member of the Editorial Board of The Open Transportation Journal (2006-2015). He has served as General Chair of the 2012 IEEE Intelligent Vehicles Symposium (IV’2012) that was held in Alcalá de Henares (Spain) in June 2012. He was recipient of the 2010 Outstanding Editorial Service Award for the IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems, the IEEE ITSS Outstanding Application Award in 2013, and the Prize to the Best Team with Full Automation in GCDC 2016. At present, he is President of the IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems Society.
Christoph Stiller

Brief Bio
Christoph Stiller studied Electrical Engineering in Aachen, Germany and Trondheim, Norway, and received the Diploma degree and the Dr.-Ing. degree (Ph.D.) from Aachen University of Technology in 1988 and 1994, respectively. He worked with INRS-Telecommunications in Montreal, Canada for a post-doctoral year in 1994/1995 and with Robert Bosch GmbH, Germany from 1995 – 2001. In 2001 he became Chaired Professor and Director of the Institute for Measurement and Control Systems at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany.
Dr. Stiller serves as Senior Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Vehicles (2015-ongoing) and as Associate Editor for the IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems Magazine (2012-ongoing). He served as Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems Magazine (2009-2011). His automated driving team AnnieWAY has been finalist in the Darpa Urban Challenge 2007 as well as first and second winner of the Grand Cooperative Driving Challenge in 2011 and 2016, respectively. He has served is several positions for the IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems Society including being its President 2012-2013.
